This procedure is done for patients with instability (spondylolisthesis) in the vertebral column in the vertebral column. Here decompression plus discectomy is done via UBE approach and the disc is approached by artificial cage under continuous endoscopy visualization. This is followed by percutaneous screw fixation. Thus allowing the stabilization if the instability via endoscopic approach.
The beauty of this technique is the bone graft from the facet and the lamina of the patient is utilized it doesn’t require any artificial bone substitutes. Since this technique is done under continuous irrigation of saline, there is minimal bleeding and the patient post operatively usually doesn’t require blood transfusion.
