What is Slipped Disc?
A herniated disc (also known as a bulged, slid, or ruptured disc) is a disc nucleus fragment that has been forced out of the annulus and into the spinal canal due to a tear or rupture in the annulus. Herniated discs are frequently in the early stages of degeneration. Disc disorders can vary from minor disc covering (annulus) ruptures to disc material ejection into the spinal canal, squeezing nerves and causing paralysis, bladder, and bowel function. Small disc annulus ruptures are often painless and only last a few weeks. Disc ruptures frequently extrude the space between the vertebrae and push on the nerves, producing sciatica (sharp shooting pain along the path of a nerve) in the legs. In large number of patients with such symptoms they can be managed without surgery, but a consultation with a spine specialist is required to determine the severity of the condition. When surgery is needed, these extrusions can cause weakness and severe numbness in the legs. If you have symptoms of bladder and bowel problems, as well as leg weakness, you should seek immediate medical attention.
Treatment solution ranges from:
1. Medical management & physiotheraphy
2. Pain block management
3. UBE Decompression
4. UBE Discectomy
5. UBE Fusion
